Workforce Education

Our mission to lead the global advancement of the American whiskey industry doesn't end in the classroom.

Taking care of our people through workforce development in the spirits industry is a priority for our team, so whether you need a broad overview of whiskey production or a deep dive into all the science, we've got you covered.

Training Opportunities

We offer a variety of workforce training program formats to promote excellence in the spirits industry, whatever your unique needs may be. Learn more about our opportunities below or contact us to get started.

Bring your team to the world's largest teaching distillery for a day-long experience. This program offers classroom lectures from our Faculty Fellows with expertise in topics like grain handling, fermentation, process engineering, maturation and customer relations.

Whether you want an overview of whiskey production with a focus on storytelling to grow your visitor experience, or you're looking for a leadership retreat with a fun learning twist, our Short Course offering can fit your needs. Reach out to our Education Coordinator to get started.

This multi-day workshop series provides participants with a strong foundation in the science and engineering concepts that underlay whiskey production. Through a combination of lectures from our Faculty Fellows and hands-on activities to reinforce learning through experience, your team has the opportunity to learn core concepts and put them into practice in a safe learning environment.

We know every distillery operates a little (or a lot) differently, so our Education Coordinator will work with you to maximize the value of the program for your unique needs.

We partner with the James B. Beam Distilling Company to offer an extensive in-depth training for distillery operators. As a Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program, this offering includes approximately 2,000 hours of on-the-job training where apprentices apply hands-on science and engineering concepts they learn through the ~180 hours of Related Technical Instruction that the Beam Institute and our Faculty Fellows provide to trainees.

This offering is currently exclusive to the James B. Beam Distilling Company through our partnership, but we anticipate opportunities to expand, so don't hesitate to reach out to our Education Coordinator if you're interested.
